Meet

Nassir Ward

Hi! I’m Nassir Ward, a photographer from Oakland, CA. My journey with photography began about seven years ago when I picked up the family camera during high school. Initially, I was just looking for something productive to do outside of sports, so I started running around the Bay Area with a Canon Rebel T3, capturing moments with friends and peers whenever I could.

The more I explored photography, the more I realized how much I loved creating. Eventually, I decided to shift my focus from sports to photography, determined to hone my craft. At the time, venturing into a creative field like photography wasn't something that was encouraged or even considered a viable path for success among my peers and me. In Oakland, being an athlete was often seen as the primary way to "make it out," but I wanted to challenge that narrative and show others that we have options.

After high school, I began building my network with other creatives in the Bay Area. I reached out to modeling agencies for test shoots, which eventually led me to create work beyond Oakland. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to use my platform to share my perspective of the world and connect with people from all walks of life—whether it's building portfolios, capturing special occasions, working with brands, and more.

My goal is to raise awareness about the lack of representation in creative spaces and to inspire minority groups to explore fields like photography and filmmaking.
